May 20, 2026

Match 62 in TATA IPL 2026 at Arun Jaitley Stadium had all that a cricket connoisseur and T20 enthusiast expected of a cricket match. This match witnessed swings in momentum, a spectacular show of death bowling, and a well-planned run chase. In the end, the Delhi Capitals managed to take advantage of playing on their own soil and successfully chased down the challenging target set by Rajasthan Royals, winning the match with 5 wickets and 4 balls to spare.

Blitz by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and an Early RR Lead
The Delhi Capitals decided to opt for a toss and fielded on that fateful day. But Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, a prodigy from Rajasthan Royals, didn’t want that. The teenage star went ahead and played against the world’s most expensive fast bowler, Mitchell Starc, giving the Royals a great start by scoring a fabulous 21-ball 46 run blitz, keeping the DC bowlers under pressure.

After the dismissal of Sooryavanshi, it was up to Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel, who came up to play as a wicketkeeper-batsman, to take charge of the innings. Parag, whose form was on top, scored 51 runs in 26 balls, while Dhruv Jurel scored a fantastic and courageous 53 runs in 40 balls. Rajasthan Royals were in such a dominating position at 161/2 in the 15th over that they had no problem crossing 210 runs.

Ashutosh Sharma: The 5-Ball Hero
The game was set to culminate in an exciting finale. As Rahul got out, all eyes were on the lower order to provide some boundaries before the game slipped out of reach.

Enter Ashutosh Sharma. In an innings that could be watched throughout the rest of the season, Ashutosh showed his nerves of steel and delivered a sensational, unbeaten knock of 18 runs from 5 deliveries. His outstanding innings tore apart the RR’s death bowlers and won the match for Delhi at 197/5 in 19.4 overs.

Although Ashutosh contributed in a big way to win the match, Mitchell Starc’s superb 4-wicket haul helped him earn the Man of the Match Award. This incredible 5-wicket win puts Delhi Capitals back in contention for the fiercely contested IPL 2026 playoffs, showing that they have enough talent to defeat the other teams in the tournament.
