Platforms are the foundation of Doodle Jump. Without them, the Doodler has nowhere to land and the run quickly comes to an end.
At the beginning of a run, platforms are generally easier to reach, giving you time to become comfortable with the character's movement. As you progress Doodle Jump, however, their positions become more challenging and some may introduce additional hazards.
Stable platforms are usually the safest option because they provide a reliable landing area. Moving platforms require more precise timing, while breakable platforms can only support you temporarily. Learning to recognize these differences helps you choose a safer route upward.
You do not necessarily need to land on every platform you see. Sometimes the better strategy is to skip a nearby platform and aim for another one that gives you a more comfortable position for the next jump.
