Saudi Arabia Tire Industry: Vehicle Growth, Logistics Expansion, and Technology Shifts
September 09, 2026
Saudi Arabia’s tire industry is closely connected with the country’s expanding vehicle fleet, infrastructure development, logistics activity, and changing mobility patterns. Passenger cars remain the principal source of demand, while commercial vehicles and off-road equipment support additional consumption through construction, freight, tourism, and industrial activity. The Kingdom’s hot climate and long-distance driving conditions also place particular emphasis on durability, heat resistance, road grip, and replacement frequency.
According to the Saudi Arabia tire industry analysis by MarkNtel Advisors, the sector was valued at USD 4.52 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach USD 6.98 billion by 2032, expanding at a CAGR of 6.40% during 2026–2032. Passenger cars represented around 75% of demand in 2025, while radial tires accounted for approximately 98%, reflecting the strong position of passenger mobility and modern tire construction in the Kingdom.
Vehicle Fleet Expansion Supports Replacement Demand
Saudi Arabia has a large and growing vehicle base that provides a recurring foundation for tire consumption. The General Authority for Statistics reported more than 15.8 million registered and roadworthy vehicles in use by the end of 2024, representing a 6.9% increase from 2023. The Saudi road transport statistics also recorded more than one million newly issued vehicle registrations during 2024, demonstrating continued additions to the active fleet.
A growing vehicle population does not only increase original-equipment requirements. It also creates a progressively larger installed base requiring replacement tires as vehicles accumulate mileage. Passenger cars used for commuting, intercity travel, and family transportation can generate consistent aftermarket demand, while commercial fleets may experience shorter replacement intervals because of higher mileage and heavier operating loads.
Passenger Cars Maintain a Dominant Position
Passenger cars accounted for approximately 75% of Saudi Arabia’s tire demand in 2025. Their dominance reflects widespread private vehicle ownership and extensive daily use across major urban centers such as Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam. The increasing popularity of SUVs is also changing the product mix, as larger vehicles often require wider dimensions, higher load ratings, and specialized tread configurations.
SUV tires are projected to record faster growth than the broader passenger-car category during the forecast period. Their expansion is supported by consumer preferences for larger vehicles suitable for long-distance travel and varied road conditions. This trend can also raise demand for premium and performance-oriented products designed around stability, durability, and heat management.
Radial Construction Remains the Standard
Radial tires held approximately 98% of the industry in 2025. Their strong position is associated with durability, road stability, lower rolling resistance, and suitability for modern passenger and commercial vehicles. These characteristics are particularly relevant in Saudi Arabia, where vehicles may operate for long distances and face elevated road temperatures.
The dominance of radial products also reflects the gradual decline of bias construction in mainstream road applications. While bias tires continue to serve certain specialized and off-road uses, radial designs have become the preferred option for most passenger vehicles and many commercial applications.
Infrastructure and Logistics Increase Tire Utilization
Large-scale infrastructure and logistics projects are another important source of tire demand. Construction activity increases the use of trucks, pickups, buses, and off-road equipment, while freight movement generates higher mileage across highways and industrial corridors. Saudi Arabia’s diversification strategy has placed transportation and logistics at the center of long-term economic development.
The country’s 2025 Vision 2030 report highlighted continued investment in logistics infrastructure, stronger integration across transport systems, and improved supply-chain connectivity. Its logistics indicators also showed a 32% increase in cargo throughput between 2024 and 2025, strengthening the connection between freight activity and commercial vehicle utilization.
Local Manufacturing Is Gaining Attention
Saudi Arabia has historically relied substantially on imported tires, but local manufacturing investment is beginning to change the structure of the supply ecosystem. The development of new production facilities can support domestic availability, reduce dependence on overseas supply, and create opportunities for local industrial development.
The expansion of domestic production is also aligned with broader industrial diversification objectives. Tire manufacturing can create demand for supporting services, logistics, technical expertise, and rubber-related inputs. Over time, greater local capacity could also influence the availability of different product categories and improve supply responsiveness for vehicle operators.
Tire Efficiency and Standards Matter
Energy efficiency and product compliance are becoming increasingly important considerations for tire suppliers and consumers. Saudi Arabia’s standards framework includes requirements related to tire performance, labeling, and conformity. The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization provides an Energy Efficiency Label for Tires service, which enables eligible manufacturers and suppliers to obtain certification for tire products covered by applicable regulations.
Such requirements encourage greater attention to measurable performance characteristics, including energy efficiency and product conformity. For consumers and fleet operators, tire selection can increasingly involve comparisons of durability, efficiency, safety, and operating costs rather than focusing only on initial purchase price.
Electric Vehicles Create New Requirements
Electric vehicle adoption represents an emerging opportunity for the Saudi tire industry. EVs can require tires capable of handling higher vehicle weight, immediate torque delivery, reduced rolling resistance, and lower road noise. These requirements are particularly relevant as premium electric models and charging infrastructure become more established in the Kingdom.
The transition is likely to influence both original-equipment specifications and future replacement demand. As the installed EV fleet expands, tire suppliers may increasingly develop products optimized for range efficiency, load capacity, tread durability, and acoustic comfort.
Outlook for the Saudi Arabia Tire Industry
Saudi Arabia’s tire industry is being shaped by vehicle fleet expansion, passenger-car dominance, SUV adoption, infrastructure development, logistics activity, radial technology, and emerging EV demand. The country’s large installed vehicle base provides a strong foundation for recurring replacement requirements, while construction and freight activity add demand from commercial and off-road applications.
Future development is likely to involve greater emphasis on heat-optimized compounds, efficient radial designs, premium performance categories, digital tire monitoring, and EV-specific products. At the same time, local manufacturing and regulatory development could gradually reshape the supply landscape, making technology, durability, compliance, and lifecycle economics increasingly important factors in tire selection.
